Become a Certified Xperience by Kentico Developer: Exam Guide

I’m excited to share that I’ve recently cleared the Xperience by Kentico Certified Developer exam, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! 🎉  

Having worked on Kentico Xperience 13 for quite some time now, this certification really helped me prove my skills with the latest version of Kentico’s platform.

In this blog, I’ll walk you through my experience and give you some tips that can help you clear the exam with confidence.

My Certification Experience

I have been working with DotStark Technologies for a few years now, and I had already cleared the Kentico Xperience 13 Certified Developer exam earlier.  

So, when I heard about the new certification for Xperience by Kentico, I decided to go for it right away! 

Let me walk you through the process so that you know what to expect. 

Step 1: Prepare Well 📝

Before you start the certification process, it’s important to prepare. Kentico provides a list of resources, and you should definitely go through them. Here’s what I did to prepare: 

• I read the official documentation for Xperience by Kentico to understand the features and tools better.
• I set up a test website to try out the things I was learning.
• I practiced key areas like content modeling, GDPR, and CI/CD.

These resources will help you get familiar with the exam topics. 

Step 2: Take the Sample Test

Kentico offers a sample test that is very similar to the real exam. It’s a great way to understand the type of questions you’ll face. The sample test will give you five multiple-choice questions with detailed explanations of the correct answers. 

Make sure you take this test to get comfortable with the format. It really helps build your confidence. 

Step 3: The Real Exam

The main exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and you have 75 minutes to complete it. Don’t worry—the time is more than enough if you are prepared. The passing score is 70%, but if you score 64% or higher, Kentico offers a consultation to help you improve. 

Some of the topics covered in the exam include: 

• Content Modeling: Understanding how to structure and manage content.
• Page Builder: Working with widgets, templates, and more.
• Custom Modules: Extending the admin interface.
• GDPR and Data Protection: Ensuring compliance with data regulations.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Implementing continuous integration and deployment.

The questions are practical and focus on real-world applications, so make sure you have hands-on experience. 

My Tips for Success

Before attempting the Xperience by Kentico certification exam, please make sure you're fully prepared with the following checklist: 

1. Have a running project in Visual Studio: Ensure your project is up and running so you can quickly check and reference your code during the exam.
2. Open the MSSQL Server Database: Keep your database accessible to easily search for data or verify queries when needed.
3. Run the Xperience by Kentico administration: Have the Kentico administrator panel open to swiftly navigate through settings and configurations.
4. Keep the necessary Kentico documentation handy: Make sure you have the relevant documentation open for quick reference during the exam.
